Community Garden temporarily uprooted in Asheville but gardeners continue to plant on
Nestled in the heart of downtown Asheville is Elder and Sage Community Garden. The self- referred "urban oasis" has been closed to the public amid Asheville City COVID-19 guidelines. However, workers, many of whom are elderly, can still tend to their plots while maintaining proper social distance.

"I've talked to the plants. I believe they're a living, breathing thing just as we are and they deserve respect and good care."
Sign up for our NewslettersLarry Williams is eagerly anticipating beans to grow up his garden's bean pole but remains cautious amid COVID-19. "We practice six feet here .. got my mask and my gloves and everything," Williams said. "This is healing. This is a blessing to have this kind of thing downtown."
